Issue with Word and Entourage

Has anyone had any problems with losing the ability to cut and paste
from word and entourage? I am running tiger 10.4.3 and Office v.x. For
some unknown reason I have lost the ability to cut/copy and paste text
in Word or Entourage or between these office applications. This has
only happened in the past 2 weeks. Both apps do infrequently crash as
well.
Any ideas as to why?
