Issues connecting on a VPN

I have the BCM working well on a LAN, but are having issues with my VPN.

It CAN find the remote server with the BCM on OK and connect no problem.
But it never displays the BCM add-in menu. When you look at VPN status it is
stuck sending and receiving data.

I can go to the BCM views in Contacts,Task & Jouranls and see all the
records from the remote BCM, but it can't open any of the forms. So it must
be able to query the remote BCM SQL Server database OK.

While this is happening outlook is almost unusable and goes into (Not
Responding) states often.

If I disconnect the VPN, the BCM add-in menu appears, but without the VPN
connected nothing in outlook works.

Attempting to use a heavily integrated SQL application like BCM over VPN is
not supported. It's possible, but as you can see you are getting killed by
latency, lack of bandwidth, or both. It may be possible to adjust for those
deficiencies by tuning your SQL settings, but that's not something you'd be
expected to know.

You may want to setup Outlook RPC over HTTPS mode in your Outlook 2003
client to your Exchange server, if that's what you are using.

My recommendation would be to use a terminal services server, remote web
workplace (unique to SBS) to a remote workstation, or to simply connect to
your remote workstation via the remote desktop feature of Windows XP Pro.
BCM 2007 supports the offline mode.
