Issues in PWA - how to move from Project to Project

L

ljsexton

We have a master list of issues that are assigned to various approved
projects as needed. Sometimes we need to move issues from one project to
another - Is there a mechanism for moving issues between projects? Also, does
anyone have any experience with using Project Server and Sharepoint Services
to manage a master list of issues not necessarily attached to a specific
project? Would also need to report on Issues across multiple/all projects.
Any info on if this is doable or should we put our time on something more
productive?

Hi ljsexton,

lots of questions :)

OK lets try to answer some of them

Q: Move Issues from one to another Project
A: not a function that is build in to Project Server. this will need to be
either a manual process ( copy and paste) or you will need to custom develop
this part, which is not easy.

Q: Overall Issues which are project independend
A: no Problem, use the "Public document" workspace and create a list of
called Issues or amend the existing one. Apply a new menu in PWA and link
this List to the Menu. By default every user will have access to the new menu
and can create a new "overall issue"

Q: Reporting on all Issues
A: based on reporting services, you can develop a report ( we have done this
many times to customers in the past). you will need some expertise in Project
and WSS database and Reporting serive.
Once the report is created you can make this accesseble through PWA by
creating either a new Menu ( as per my last Answer) or create a submenu
within an existing Menu within PWA.

In regards of "if this is achievable" Q1, maybe put your time to something
more productive. Q2 and Q3 Absolutely, we have done this many times and it
works like a treat, given that you have Projetc server experience and some
development experience.
I hope this puts you in the right direction
