Issues in Tree view in EPM

S

Hi
In the Project Centre view in EPM, I notice that tree view on my computer is
different from the view of my colleague. Issue is I do not find the view at
the parent project level(aggregating all the child projects & sub projects).
This view
enables grouping of sub-projects based on some criteria. Both of us are using
the same public view. I can share the screenshots if there is a way, to make
it easier to understand.

Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, it sounds as though you may not
have access to the same projects that your colleague has. Are you comparing
apples to apples at a security level? Please specify what version you are
using in future posts.

Hi Gary
Thanks for your response.

I am using EPM2007.
The issue I am facing is not related to access but more of views in Project
Centre in PWA. I have multiple child projects which in turn have many
sub-projects each. I would like to have the aggregated view at Parent project
level, which I am able to see in my colleague's system but not in my system.

Another observation is that when I use my credentials & login to my
colleague's system, I am able to see the parent level view. This confirms
that it is not security level / permission related issue. Hope I have
provided adequate info & clarity.
Thanks!

Your statement makes it sound as though the problem is specific to your
system, so you might try deleting the browser cache. Look for differences in
browser settings and view setting between your workstations.

Yes, it does seem to be very system specifc. But am unable to identify the
attribute that is causing this. I do realise now that this is not an isolated
case & this behaviour can be seen in many systems. It does seem to be an
issue related to grouping feature. Any help to help isolate the attribute
would be appreciated.

Hi Srikaanth

In the Project Centre - Settings|Options - there is a box you can
check (locally) which affects the display of subprojects - "Show
Inserted Subprojects". Is this the cause of the difference from your
colleague's system?

Sorry, Mike. That is not helping. Is there some mail ID that I can send the
screenshots to? I think that will make it easier to visualise the problem.

Can you check the version for the ActiveX controls in use on each
machine. You could do this via Manage Addons in your browser or
alternatively find them in C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
(PJ12enuC Class, PjAdoInfo4 Class).
In any case on your machine right click each one and remove. When you
next go to Project Center you will be prompted to download the
controls. See if this resolves your problem.

Hi Mike

version number for both these files seem to be 12,0,4518,1014 (before &
after deletion).
I did remove them & downloaded the new files. But the problem is persisting.
Pls let me know if there are any other ideas. Appreciate your support.

Hi Srikaanth

I should have asked you what patch level you are on. it's not clear
from the screen grab whether you are grouping on several codes or a
single hierarchical code. I assume the latter. Failure to display an
indented hierarchy was a feature of early versions of Project Server
2007.

For the controls I would expect PJ12ENUC to be 12.0.4518.1014 (it has
never changed) but PjAdoInfo4 does have a habit of changing. For
example the Aug CU is 12.0.6503.5000. Please check, it should be at
least SP1 standard (12.0.6211.1000).

Hi Mark

Looks like activex version is the issue here. I do not have 12.0.6503.5000,
while on a working system I find the above version. I have sent screenshots
to your email ID.
What I notice is that when I delete the current version, I always get
12.0.4518.1014 version downloaded. So looks there is some other dependency to
have the latest version downloaded.

Hi Srikaanth

From the screenshots you sent I conclude that you have a Project
Server RTM installed with no patches. You have MS Project SP2 + April
Update. However your PjAdoInfo 4 is SP Aug CU standard. So I suspect
you are flipping between differnt project server systems, at least one
of which is patched to latest CU and this one which is not. So
suggest you get them all to common standard.

Mike
