Hi. I recently set up a Gmail account and subsequently set up access to this
account on Outlook 2003 and my iPhone via POP. My experience so far has been
a mess. Important e-mails I receive on Gmail's website aren't appearing in
Outlook 2003. Other messages are showing up in Outlook 2003 but not my
iPhone. E-mails I delete in Outlook aren't being deleted on Gmail's website.
On top of this, I'd like to set up my Gmail, Outlook 2003, and iPhone
account so that my e-mail address appears to recipients as a different,
non-Gmail address (specifically my school alumni address) but have been
unable to figure out how to do this. And so on and so forth...
My e-mail situation has been pretty much haywire since trying to make this
switch. Before I give up and switch to another provider that's not Gmail, I
wanted to reach out to see if there are any potential solutions. For
example, will switching from POP to IMAP solve any of these problems? Any
insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I should add, in
case it's not clear, that I intend to access Gmail mainly through Outlook
2003 and my iPhone, not so much Gmail's website except when traveling. If
any other e-mail providers might better suit my needs, recommendations would
be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex
