Issues with Enterprise lookups and local cache

Hi Gurus,

I beg for your help with Project Server 2007 SP2! A few of our
system's users (myself included) are receiving seemingly corrupted
values from an enterprise field as presented in the project
information interface. To be more specific, we have an enterprise
field entitled 'Org Unit' which uses values specified in a lookup
table 'Org Unit Lookup'. The lookup table is comprised of a four level
hierarchy, similar to:
Division – Branch – Section – Team. The table itself looks fine.
The problem is when a particular user views the ‘Org Unit’ field, they
may (or not) be missing one or several lookup values. In my case I am
missing several Branch level entries and some of the Division levels
indicate that they are rolled up values (+) but do not expand on
selection.
I’ve read a couple of posts which suggest that this issue is likely to
lie with the local cache. The most comprehensive of which I’ve linked
below:

http://groups.google.com.au/group/m...oject+information+corruption#e04addd76717acbb

Now I’ve tried several methods of clearing the cache i.e. from the
project client and from %appdata%, yet the problem persists. In
desperation I just reinstalled the project client which also failed to
yield fruit.

Can anyone assist with this?

One more consideration may be that we run Dev, Test and Prod servers,
all of which are driven from the one client.

Thanks in advance

Tom

Hi Tom,

This was a hughe problem pre SP1. Once sp1 is installed generally the custom
fields work.
What I would suggest is install SP1 on server and all clients. It will not
elimitate this issue
completey, but based on our experience it will eliminate this issue 98% of
the time.

Make sure that the clients of all users have SP1installed as well,
somethimes when this issue occurs with some users but not others it means
that the other users
do not have SP1 on their client installed.

Hope this helps

Hi Marc,

You nailed it. I just installed SP1 on my client and not only has the
data all become visible but the mandatory and optional fields have
been separated and alphabetised. Is there anything that I should be
aware of in deploying this to our 300 odd users i.e. subsequent issues
that have arisen?

Thanks a million

Tom

Hi Tom,

the only thing that I came up with is that after you deployed SP1 you may
have to clear the cash one more time before the cashing issue is resolved.
Appart from that you should have no issues delpoying SP1
Have fun :)
