issuses switching between notebook view & print layout view

I originally created a document in notebook view. I switched it to print layout view (because I wanted more formatting control) made formatting changes, saved the document and exited the program. When I re-opened the file, it defaulted back to notebook view. How do I stop this from happening and have it open in page layout view, complete with my formatting changes?

Thanks

Hi Sherri:

You can't really do this. A Notebook and a Document have a slightly
different internal structure. Once a document is a Notebook, Word will
always display it like that. If you force it into Page Layout View, chances
are it will corrupt and refuse to open at all.

I suggest that you create a new document as a document, then paste the
content of the Notebook into it.

Hope this helps
