Items displayed on Clipboard won't paste into Excel.

I have Office 2003 and when I copy or cut items from an cell in Excel, they
show up on the Office Clipboard, but I am unable to paste them back into
another cell when I click on them as in a previous version. It won't work
with the box with each cata on the Clipboard either. Has anyone encoutered
this problem and been able to find a workaround?
