It's really MSWorks I need assistance with!

I have files created on MSWorks 1.0 (10+ years ago) that
I can't access. Does anyone have a clue as to how to
open, import or otherwise get these old files to open on
a newer mac (MSWorks won't work on Macs after the
Performa series).

Any suggestions are welcomed!

Short of finding an old machine with a version of MSWorks that's
backwards compatible (check your local school districts...), I don't
know of anything that will read 1.0 files natively.

If you just want the text, I'd try opening them in Word v.X. In the
Open dialog, choose Recover Text from any file from the Show:
dropdown. You'll get a bunch of garbage, certainly, but you may get
your text back, too.

If you try that, be sure to change the Show: setting back when you
next open a file - the Recover Text setting is persistent.
