My son is taking Japanese. Is there any way to load Japanese fonts
onto Mac Office v.X???
Office v. X comes already with several Japanese fonts, and so does OS X if
you didn't uncheck them when asked about which languages. You should
probably go back to your OS X installer and do a custom install to install
Japanese, or just insert CVs 2 and 3 to find the .pkg or .mpkg file for
Japanese and double-click it,
It's probably better to stick with the Japanese fonts that come with OS X
and Office v. X rather than o try to install your own, since those might be
Windows only or Unicode only.
The Mac 'international text' supported in Office v. X does not come anywhere
near to supporting every Japanese character . If I remember correctly, it's
something on the order of 15,000 or so characters out of 65,000 Hiragana
characters, And it will be worse in Word than in Entourage. And his Word
documents may not transfer to Word Windows correctly.
What you should do is upgrade to Office 2004 which does Unicode in Word as
well as in Entourage. You will get all the Japanese characters, at least in
certain Unicode fonts, and more fonts too.
