Japanese OS + English Mac Office?

I bought a new MacBook in Japan this year, and then returned to the
USA. Can I add on a Office 2004 English version? Or would I have to buy
a Japanese version?

I have no first hand experience here, but you should, in theory, have
no problems. If you get the Japanese version, you will be stuck with
Japanese menus.
