Java Applet

G

Guest

Will someone please try my Java Applet to see if it
loads/executes properly at my website?

I used FrontPage 2003 to publish the program.

It works fine at my home computer, but may it is not
working properly using some other computers.

Not everyone has the Java Virtual Machine installed on their Operating
Systems, due to the conflict between Sun and Microsoft (long story). Bottom
line: If you want everyone to see something, don't use a Java Applet. You
have no control over what software is installed on their machines.

I'm already aware of the need to have JVM.
However, my question remains unanswered:
Again,
will someone with the JVM please try my Java Applet to
see if itloads/executes properly at my website?

Applet works fine in both IE 6 and Netscape 7.1 on my
computer. In fact, it is easier for me to get my website
than to bring up SunMicrosystems' website from my
computer.

Try again please.

Got it now. Works fine for me in IE6 & NS 7.1.

I use Sun Java.

Why didn't you just test it yourself?
Anyway, it loads fine but pretty slowly.

I found the page, the applet took 15 seconds to load.
The text said best displayed at full screen - resized to full screen, the
applet size did not change, but computer froze.
I am using Sun's JVM v 1.4 on WinXP Home, IE6.

This is the third time Sun's JVM has crashed one of my PCs. It is now
un-installed.

Thanks,

problem is probably with my local library's network
administrator setting security too tight to preclude use
of Java applets.

However, I also request you run the applet again using a
set of sample input values available in the applet's
upper text window and see if you get expected results as
also listed in upper text window.

K

Kevin Spencer

Okay, it only took me 10 minutes to find the applet (it would have helped if
you had posted the correct URL). It works.

Don't know what good you expect to gain from this question, though. You
might just as well ask if an Access mdb file opens fine on anyone's machine.
Those that have the Access program will find that it opens fine. Those that
don't won't. In your case, those that have the JVM installed on their
machine will find it works. Those that don't won't.

Therefore, if your aim is to have something that works in all browsers,
don't use a Java applet. Which brings me back to my first answer.

Thanks,

computers at my local library are probably set too high
in security to permit applets.

However, would you please run the applet again using
sample data and let me know if results are consistent?

note: sample data and anticipated results are available
in upper text area of applet window.

Sorry, that's as far as I go. I don't play with Java on unfamliar sites.

If I did not visit, how would I know that the text in the applet suggests
running the browser at full screen?

It appears your logging software needs looking at.

Tried it, all I got was the gray applet background, and I do have JVM installed.
