java script modification help

threademporium

The slide show java script below offers the right functionality i need for
my web site.
I dont know how to change the picture references from the example below to
my own specific picture needs.
The pictures I want to see appear in this slide show are located in the
image folder of the web folder
the reference for this folder is (as it appears on my laptop)
C:\my documents\my webs\copy of TTE\images

Presumably something has to alter in this file reference once i load
everything up to the web server as the java script wont be able to reach my
laptop once i have sent it to the server

Help needed by complete novice
Thanks for taking a look at my question

Hi Joyce,

Create a page that is in the same folder as the images that you want to
use..then use the script that you have (you might want to copy and paste the
script first into notepad..and then from notepad into your page in code
view)

The part that you change is this:

variableslide[0]=['ball.gif', '', '']
variableslide[1]=['spaceship.gif', 'http://www.space.com', 'Has aliens
landed on earth? You decide.']
variableslide[2]=['cake.gif', '', '']

change ball.gif spaceship.gif and cake.gif to the names of your image files
(yourimage.gif or whatever the file name is)

You can also remove the link that will show on the 2nd one by changing it
from:

variableslide[1]=['spaceship.gif', 'http://www.space.com', 'Has aliens
landed on earth? You decide.']

to:

variableslide[1]=['spaceship.gif', '', '']

But using your own image file name in it.

The webpage i want this slide show to appear on already exists (its an htm

If i move the htm page into the image folder will this effect anything ?

I changed the script as you kindly suggested. I have put it below.
I created 3 new Gif images called circle square and hexagon and placed them
in the same folder the web page (htm) is also found.
I copied and pasted the text by going to the FP edit window with my page
showing - went to "tools" "macro" "microsoft script editor" I pasted the text
into the page between the following
</table> and </body></html>
i viewed the page in browser but could not get any pictures - however the
text "free DHtml scripts provided by Dynamic drive" does appear

Hi Joyce,

You don't need to use the Script Editor for this..try just placing your
cursor on the page where you want the slideshow to appear..and then switch
over into HTML view..and paste the script in there.

I created 3 new gif pictures and placed them in the same folder the
existing
web page appears in.
I modified the script ( see below my modified version) and opened the
relevant page in FP editor - went to tools/macro/microsoft script editor
and
pasted the text between </table> & </body>
no pictures appeared after saving and previewing in browser - text
appeared
- saying "free dhtml scripts provided by Dynamic drive
any suggestions for me Joe

Hi Joyce,

Try just copying and pasting the image files..into the same folder as the
current page you want to use (It's probably in your root)

Hi Joe
The webpage i want this slide show to appear on already exists (its an
htm
type page) this page resides outside the image folder where the
pictures
reside.
If i move the htm page into the image folder will this effect anything
?

Thanks for taking a look at my question
Joyce

:

Hi Joyce,

Create a page that is in the same folder as the images that you want
to
use..then use the script that you have (you might want to copy and
paste
the
script first into notepad..and then from notepad into your page in
code
view)

The part that you change is this:

variableslide[0]=['ball.gif', '', '']
variableslide[1]=['spaceship.gif', 'http://www.space.com', 'Has aliens
landed on earth? You decide.']
variableslide[2]=['cake.gif', '', '']

change ball.gif spaceship.gif and cake.gif to the names of your image
files
(yourimage.gif or whatever the file name is)

You can also remove the link that will show on the 2nd one by changing
it
from:

variableslide[1]=['spaceship.gif', 'http://www.space.com', 'Has aliens
landed on earth? You decide.']

to:

variableslide[1]=['spaceship.gif', '', '']

But using your own image file name in it.

The slide show java script below offers the right functionality i
need
for
my web site.
I dont know how to change the picture references from the example
below
to
my own specific picture needs.
The pictures I want to see appear in this slide show are located in
the
image folder of the web folder
the reference for this folder is (as it appears on my laptop)
C:\my documents\my webs\copy of TTE\images

Presumably something has to alter in this file reference once i load
everything up to the web server as the java script wont be able to
reach
my
laptop once i have sent it to the server
