As the Senior Engineer / Technical Lead for the Desktop team, you’re
charge will be to assemble and lead a team that’s responsible for
changing the way work gets done inside of Microsoft Office. We’re
looking for someone to provide great leadership to a team of five to
eight developers as well as actively engage with QA, product
management, customer support, product design, UI, and the rest of the
development organization to help your team achieve greatness. You’ll
have the distinct pleasure of seeing your team happily delivering
quality, scalable, tested code on time to the delight of customers
around the globe. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and raising
our engineering standards, and in a key position to lead the
organization through rapid growth and evolution. The icing on the cake
is that you’ll have hands-on coding as part of your job and a large
part in architecture and design.
To qualify you will need to have experience with .NET or COM
(preferably in the context of Microsoft Office), a strong engineering
background, some experience leading small teams and a love for making
awesome products.
Responsibilities:
· Technical design, implementation and maintenance of products
deployed inside of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel,
Outlook)
· Lead a software engineering team through the entire development
lifecycle and assist with project management
· Actively engage with QA, product management, customer support,
product design, UI, and the rest of the engineering organization
· Manage and develop the individuals on your team, provide mentoring,
level roadblocks
· Work closely with your team, lead design reviews, and provide
feedback on architecture and design issues
· Execute project plans and deliver on team and individual
commitments
· Participate in strategic planning to define technical direction and
reach both technical and business objectives
· Communicate status and escalate issues to the rest of engineering
management
Requirements:
· 4+ years experience developing Windows desktop applications and
Microsoft Office Add-ins using Microsoft technologies
· Hands-on software engineering using .NET (C#) or COM (C++), MAPI/
IMAP/POP, packaging Office Add-ins into a Windows installer
· Experience leading a development team of at least three people;
experience with more than one development methodology
· A history of implementing, maintaining, and enhancing software
development practices
· Experience in, and open to, using a variety of techniques to solve
problems and design solutions to work well on all types of platforms
