Hi,

I have 2 yrs exp. using MS Project/Project Server. I interested in
taking up a course for MS Project Server Implementation. I want to be a
expert in MS Project Server. I amr eady to learn everything that requires but
am just worried about one thing.. Can I make a creer out of MS Project
Server? Hows the job market for MS Project Server? I have done some research
and have found that there are veyr few people in market with MS Project
expertise. So I feel if I become a expert in Implementing, administering and
configuring MS Project Server I would have a niche for myself. But as I said
before I want to be able to get a job and make career in it. I want to work
in something that I am really interested in and thats MS Project Server and
Project Management...
If this is not an appropriate question for this group then I
apologize. I would really appreciate if some MVP could advice me in this
matter.

Thanks,
Swati

I am not an MVP, but I can help answer the question. The short answer
is yes, you can make a career out of this. Most of the MVPs have. I
have made a career out of it also.

There are a few paths you can take. There are not that many courses
you can take that will teach you to be an Admin and Implementer.
Certainly, some of the MSProjectExpert books should be in your library,
as should the Quantum PM book. You should look at taking the
certificaiton class that Microsoft offers.

Very importantly, you should try to get a copy of Project Server and
Virtual PC so you can build some environments and learn how to do
installs, configurations, etc.

I would suggest that if you have access to MPA meetings, you begin to
attend them and that you continue to monitor this newsgroup.

I think it's a great career field - I think the product is very good
and the new one will be better.

Mark,
Can you provide more info on the microsoft certification? Is it the
Microsoft Office Specialist one?

Please let me know if you have any useful links related to the
certification. Thanks.

Swati,

I am in this technology as an Administrator since 4 years, started with
Project 2000/Project Central. There was not lot of books around since
long time, but I seen one book recently, it's written by Dale and Gary.
Both are MVPs. The book titled as administering an Enterprise PMO using
MS Project Server 2003. It's an excellent book, you can start reading,
and it will give complete knowledge of the tool.

Thanks

Thanks!! everybody. To start with I am going to get the book. Also, I was
considering joining the EPM Solutions Project Server Deployment Boot Camp.
Anyone taking this bootcamp?
Where can I get a copy of MS Project Server for installation on my PC?

Thanks,
