Joining Tables

I'm using Word 2002 SP-2 and I can't seem to join two adjoining tables together. Split works just fine, but deleting the space between the tables does nothing. I also checked the table properties for wrap=none and both tables are set that way. What should I be doing?

Hi John

Click the ¶ button on the toolbar. That will display all
end-of-paragraphs with a ¶ sign. You need to find the ¶ sign between
your two tables and delete it. (And make sure that Track Changes is not
on, or the paragraph will only be marked for deletion, and not actually
deleted.)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help! It still wasn't working, but then I realized I was using the backspace key after selecting the paragraph mark. This was not working. But, voila, using the delete key on the keyboard joined the tables right up.

Just a comment, but I think this is a bit confusing that the delete key or cut can join the tables but the backspace key does not

Thanks again

Joh

What would you be backspacing over? When you backspace between two
paragraphs, you're erasing the first paragraph mark. When the previous
"paragraph" is a table, there is no paragraph mark, and since you can't put
the insertion point to the right of the single paragraph mark, you can't
backspace over it. You might think that Backspace at the beginning of the
first cell of the following table would work, but it doesn't. OTOH, in Word
2000 and above you can delete an entire table by selecting it and
backspacing.
