Help!

A file by the name of \jon.html shows up with all my Word documents. Can't throw it away and Norton Antivirus gets rid of it for only a short period of time. When I open the file, it's a poem by the name of " a Poet For My Dear Love." Doesn't seem to be hurting anything but very annoying.

Thanks

Sorry: What do you mean by "shows up"?

I can't see your screen from here, I need you to describe what you are
seeing, and the keystrokes you hit to get to that point.

Hello Charlie -

As John pointed out you really haven't provided enough specific information
for anyone to be sure... *Every* file you open or every *new* file you
create? Can't throw what away? What does NAV show it to be? How does NAV
"get rid of it"?

It sounds like you've picked up a macro virus similar to some that have been
around for years - although I haven't heard reports of it in some time. It
probably came along with a file you received from a PC user & has seeded
itself somewhere in a comfortable little nook, but more needs to be known to
determine if I'm right & if so how to address it.

I'm no longer a big fan of Norton so I'd suggest you try another tool or two
in order to gain more insight. For example, ClamXav is a free download
available here:
