JPEG Convertor and MS Paint Since Office XP Upgrade

E

Eli Nussbaum

Thanks fo ryour help in advance.

I have a client that has completed an Office 2000 to
Office XP upgrade on many of their workstations. Many of
the users who have been upgraded can no longer save files
as JPeg in MS Paint. It seems that this is an issue
caused by the office upgrade, but it is not clear.

Some info:
The users are running Windows 2000 SP3 and/or SP4.
I have uninstalled MSPaint and Reinstalled with no
success.
I have uninstalled the JPeg convertor in Office XP and
then reinstalled it with no success.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

Ive seen this issue before and there are a couple of KB articles about it
(search all MS Products, with the key words: save paint format)

Microsoft Paint does not include any native filters for JPEG or GIF files.
Office installs filters for JPEG and GIF files, but the filters are not
installed in Microsoft Paint until Paint actually opens a JPEG or GIF file.
So I'd try opening a jpeg file in Paint and then see if you're able to
select jpeg from the "save as" drop down. Let me know how you go.

Cheers,
Katherine
