jpeg images in word documents disappear when I scroll

When viewing a word document that contains image files (JPEG) I lose the
displayed image after scrolling down then back up. If I click and select
where the image is located on the document I can then bring the image back
using the picture tool bar.
I am using Word 2002 SP3.

Try turning down the hardware acceleration in the dialog at Control
Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot. If that fixes
the problem, you may need an updated video display driver (check the
manufacturer's web site) or a better video card.
