JPEGs resizing upon insert

I'm getting a strange problem. When I do an
insert>picture>from file and insert a jpeg, the graphic
is being inserted smaller than the original image. In
image properties, the source image dimensions are NOT
correct (not the same as they are in Photoshop, for
example), but rather the size Word chooses to import.
This is rather puzzling. Any thoughts?

Try adding the image to clip gallery as a favorite, then inserting again
into Word, but this time as a Clip-Art. You also use "Copy Merged" from
Photoshop into Word.
