jpg missing when doc viewed outside of domain

We use several templates with inserted pictures (jpg) of our company logo.
Lately, we've noticed that when finished doc's created from the templates are
view outside our Windows domain, the jpg logo is not showing up. (e.g. We
email the doc to someone outside of our company.) Also when our laptops are
not connected to the network, the jpg logo does not show up but when
reconnected to the network the jpg shows up again. Picture Placeholders is
NOT checked.

It would appear that the logo has been inserted as a link rather than
embedded.

A possibility that I already checked. I removed and reinserted the graphic on
the template and it works fine again.
