I've inherited a project that includes the most cumbersome of reports
possible (!)
Each record in the report is related to several hyperlinks (attaching to
JPGs on the server); (unfortunately, the library of images is in JPG format,
not BMP or ...)
the report sheet consists of a footer with project and record information,
and a detail section with an individual JPG (full size (JPG) ~ 7" x 9" +/-)
relating to that particular record; (one (1) sheet per JPG)
(so, in other words, a report usually has about 12 - 50 records; each report
usually has about 1-5 JPGs; so the full report could consist of 250 sheets
each with it's own 7" x 9" JPG image (in reality, it's more like 90 +/-
sheets...)
this method is incredibly cumbersome to process, usually the report crashes;
and on many of the older machines, the end users have developed some curious
and/or ingenious way around it (including copying database file and then
parsing it down to a "small" portion of the records; printing; and repeating
for the remaining records UGH!)
any suggestions on how to improve this scenario, or where to go for examples
by others of successful reports)
as always, thanks in advance,
mark
