Hi bones

if its in a form then in an unbound textbox put
=YEAR([MyDate])
in the control source field where MyDate is the name of the field with the
date it in.

JulieD's already shown you how to use the Year function to extract the year
from your date. I just wanted to point out that you don't want to store that
as a separate field in your table.
