Junk e-mail / Add to Safe Senders List - not working

Matt Cooling

Has anyone experienced this issue and found a solution?

Even though I have switched *off* the feature in Outlook to only show images
on demand:

"Don't turn on links in messages that might connect to unsafe or fraudlent
sites..." - this is *not* checked

Outlook still prompts me to download pictures for some e-mails. When I click
the bar to download pictures, I get the following options:

Download Pictures
Change Automatic Download Settings
Add Sender to Safe Senders list
Add the domain to Safe Senders List - note that no domain is displayed.

If I select the bottom option, the domain is added to the safe senders list,
but this has no effect; I still need to explicitly download pictures from
all recipients.

Any thoughts/ideas much appreciated.

I'm not sure what version of Outlook you're using, but in 2007, you would
need to do the following:

On the Tools menu, click Trust Center, and then click Automatic Download.
Clear the Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or
RSS items check box.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for your reply; I am using Outlook 2003 at the moment.

I've cleared the corresponding option in OL2003, but for some reason it
doesn't take effect.

In 2003, go to Tools > Options > Security tab and uncheck "Don't download
pictures or other content automatically in HTML e-mail". It sounded like
you were working with links options, but this is different from the pictures
options.
