Junk e-mail folder

In some way, I have locked my Junk e-mail folder in Outlook. There is a red
circle with a diagonal red bar, like a "do-not-enter" sign. I have tried
numerous things and can't eliminate the red circle. All mail comes into my
"Inbox", rather than spam going into the Junk folder.
Please advise how to unlock the Junk folder.

LOL, that is the icon for the Junk Email folder. Just like the Inbox holds a
closed envelope, the Drafts holds paper and pencil, the Sent holds an
addressed and stamped envelope and the Search Folders holds a magnifying
glass. Never noticed that?

Anyway, the easiest way to break the Junk Email filter (aside from turning
it off) is to list yourself as a Safe Recipient.

I added my e-mail address as a safe recipient, but no change in the
situation. All mail is coming to my in-box. I don't recall that the "red
cirle" was there when I first installed Office Outlook.

No, read it again; you should not have yourself listed as a Safe Recipient
or otherwise it will break the Junk Email filtering (since every spam
message addressed to you would be marked as safe then).

If this is not the case, you might want to tell us some more details about
your configuration.

I have removed my name from safe recipient list - no change. I have created
rules for spam - send to junk - but nothing is going to junk e-mail and I'm
getting frustrated. Sure, I can delete the spam from the inbox, but I would
rather just see the ones I want. Is it worth deleting all the safe recipients
and starting that list over? Something I did triggered this and i don't have
clue.

Appreciate the help.

I have the same problem. This has been happening since January 18th. I've
been reading some stuff about blacklisting. Is it possible that's what's
happening to us?

And what problem is that? That your Junk E-mail folder also has that icon?
That's not a problem, that's the icon EVERYONE has for the Junk E-mail
folder in Outlook. It's NORMAL.

The icon is not the problem. (I misunderstood the initial post.)

To make it very clear:

1. I press send/receive.
2. EVERY SINGLE PIECE of incoming mail lands in the junk folder.

This did not happen prior to 1/18/08.
It is a huge hassle and like the person above, I have investigated spam and
junk mail filters. I am at a loss.

Examine the updates you installed on January 18 and uninstall the Outlook
Junk E-mail Filter update included in that list. Allow Windows Update to
install the update again. Does it work now?
