Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I have 2 Junk email folder.
One is on the exchange server and works fine.
The other is set up under Folders on my Computer.
The problems are
1. No junk automatically goes to this folder.
2. I have to highlight all messages as junk to get them into this folder.
3. there is no automatic deletion of the junk emails from the folder - instead when they are manually deleted they go to the deleted folder which i then have to empty.
Am i missing something?

Folders "On My Computer" are for POP messages. Your accounts that are on a
server have their own junk folders.

Do you have POP messages? If not, why would you want to save from your
server to your computer then delete them?
3. there is no automatic deletion of the junk emails from the folder - instead

to empty.

Under Tools in the Menu bar, select Junk E-Mail protection. You can set to
delete after xx days.

Personally, I check daily, and nuke the messages. I have set to delete from
server after deleted from computer. This keeps my limit low and if something
were to happen and I and to download all messages on the server, I wouldn't
be downloading spam for the second time.

Diane,
Thanks for the reply. Afraid i'm a bit of a novice at this.
The inbox on "on my computer" is for my private email address whereas the one on the server is for company and general emails.
What do you mean by "Do you have POP messages"?
Your suggestion of what to do under the tools menu i have already done and works as described with my Exchange messages.
When i right click on the Junk E-mail folder in "Folders on my computer" i do not get the options as i get with the server Junk E-mail folder.

POP and IMAP are protocols just like Exchange is a protocol. The folders "On
My Computer" is for downloading any POP accounts. IMAP accounts will show up
in the folder list much like your Exchange accounts.

Different types of accounts have different options. What are you trying to
do with the messages in the junk folder under folders "On My Computer"?

Since you are a novice, I suggest checking out this excellent video by Rob
Griffiths from MacWorld:
