I downloaded the 2007 Office Service Pack 1 this morning, but it "broke" my
FrontPage 2003 installation. Now, several hours later I have everything
fixed and am running smoothly again, but....come on! A MSO Cache file must
get erased during the 2007 service pack update and then all hell breaks
loose! You can't open any Office 2007 programs without an annoying
installation box opening for the leftover Office 2003 programs on your
computer. When you suffer through this "fix" (it fails, by the way because
that cache file has gone missing)--then you have to suffer through another
"installation" of Office 2007. Anyway, here's how I fixed the problem:
I uninstalled FrontPage 2003.
I shut everything down and rebooted (and checked to make sure all Office
2007 programs were now running smoothly WITHOUT the annoying FrontPage "fix"
box).
I re-installed FrontPage 2003 and downloaded and applied the various Office
2003 updates.
Then I rebooted again.
I lauched an Office 2007 program and let it run through a lengthly
"re-installation" process. Then I launched FrontPage 2003 and everything
worked CORRECTLY! Yeah!
