Just curious

I just bought this new computer that came with a trial versions of Office 2003 for Students and Teachers. Just curious to know what will happen IF I chose not to buy the key code for the full version. Will I be able to continue to use its limited features - or will it not allow me to use it at all?

This is not my first new computer. Actually, it is my third. I have never had to buy a key code to use Word or Excel with my other computers. Why do I have to now?

Just curious...

After the time-out, you will only be able to view existing files, creating
and modifying will be locked-out.

Because it's the way MS are going. You can still go into a shop and buy it
off the shelf. It's just easier this way (though, I hasten to add, *NOT*
cheaper).

Adobe and Corel have been doing it for years.

In this case, the computer vendor has elected to supply the trial version
rather than a full version to SAVE MONEY.. it saved you money initially, and
it saved him money too.. his product gets to look better because it is
supplied with the latest Office software, "... and to keep it, all you have
to do is register and pay a little..", and it hasn't cost him s@#t..
