Time Machine just saved my bacon with Entourage. I noticed that my
Calendar was missing all its entries from mid March back to the
beginning of Feb. I immediately assumed that my end of day sync with
my Palm might have caused this. I went to the main identity for Ent08
in Time Machine and went to the backup just before the sync (first I
disabled sync services in Entourage). I restored that backup. I
restarted Entourage, had to do a switch of identities to the main
identity just to force the restore to take and behold all my entries
were there except for the stuff I created on the Palm that were sync'd
to the damaged identity.
It saved me a ton of work. A restore of iCal would not work as a sync
from iCal to Entourage would cause the loss of all my categories and
extensive linking. Thus, Entourage backups in Time Machine are useful.
This sync error is nothing to do with Entourage but occurs at the sync
services level with Missing Sync. This type of thing happens
occasionally when you are just using iCal or Addressbook sync'g to a
Palm. Apple is aware of its issues and are working on them.
