just installed trial and can't type anything!

Hi,
I just installed the trial version of OneNote 2003. the program installed
okay, but it is completely unusable. The cursor blinks but nothing I type
actually shows up in the notes, and none of the right-click menus work... .
basically I can't do anything but navigte, which is useless, since i haven't
been able to input a single thing!

I tried to download a service pack to fix it but it won't let me because i
just have the trial version. However I'm certainly not going to buy OneNote
if the trial doesn't even work and I don't know if I like using it yet!
Please help!
