justifying a paragraph

Until recently, I had no issue with the way 'justify' presented a paragraph.
It seemed to me that when a line was over a certain length, then Word would
adjust spacing between words to fill the line. If it was a very short line,
then the words would just look like they were aligned left, and there would
be a long gap after the last word to fill the line with white space. Is
this making sense?

Now, something's changed. If I have only two words on a line, one is at the
left margin, followed by a huge gap, and the second is at the right margin.
It looks ridiculous. Three words would be placed left, centre and right of
the page, and so on...

I can't see what I might have done to change this, or how to change it back!
Any ideas please?
Thanks.

You've probably got a soft return at the end of the line. You need a hard
return. Hit the big black P backwards button on the toolbar to turn on
formatting marks and you will see a little bent arrow rather than a big
black P backwards. Put your cursor just in front of the little bent arrow
and hit Enter. You should then delete the little bent arrow.

Hi, Jeff.

You don't seem to be having much luck!

When justified all lines have to terminate to form an order. The last line
of a pragraph has to be terminated by hitting the Return key.

A "Page Break" does not work.

Ed
