KB907417 will not update

I have tried many times and in different ways to instal KB907417 ( OS = XP
Pro SP2 & Office 2003). Every time I get the error message "Updates were
unable to be successfully installed", or "Update cannot be applied". Advice
in the Windows update article
suggests that I should check the existence of otkloadr.dll the version
should be 7.10.5077.0. I have ver. 7.10.3191.0 on my hdd but it just will
not upgrade this KB. I would welcome a suggestion on how I can update this
KB, or elso completely remove it from the update list.

I had the same problem with this update...searched and searched and finally
found the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=884298 which
contains instructions to modify some registry values. I followed the steps
exactly and was immediately able to successfully install the troublesome
updates. Hope this helps.
