KB943591 & KB943649 Office 2003 updates fails.

Hi,
I'm running Vista Enterprise and the Office 2003 updates KB943591 & KB
943649 just won't install.

I've tried downloading the fixes to my HDD and install'em from there, with
the same outcome.
But I do get an error msg saying:
Error 1402, Setup cannot open the reg key:
HKLM\Software\Classes\mapifvbx.object\Clsid.
Verify that you have sufficient rights... bla bla.

I can not open the Key in regedit or change the permission for that key.

I've read and tried the " You receive an error message when you install an
Office program or open an Office program or document" sugestions
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838687), without any improvement.

Where can I go from here?
Anyone...

I'm having the same problem, tried all the recommended fixes to no
avail. Looking forward to some one coming up with a working fix!

Ditto here. Same problem, no solution. Look forward to a response from
someone who can solve this for us.

I was having this problem with WinXP Pro SP2, not Vista, but maybe it would
work for you.

Go into your Services applet, find the Office Source Engine service, set it
to Automatic and make sure it is enabled. Then try to install the update
again. I did this and it worked.

ToddB,

Thanks. Tried as you suggested. Didn't work.

What did work was a Rapair of Office 2003 using original installation disk,
then applying the update.

Load original Microsoft Office CD and do a repair. Once completed, go
back to Windows Update to install the above updates. It should go thru
properly. I just did it and it worked.

I also did a repair of Office 2003 using original CD and then applied
the updates after. That worked.
