KB947801-Security Vulnerability in Office Compatibility Pack

N

Nick MJ

Dear Microsoft

I am not particularly happy! Myu Vista computer downloaded and installed the
above patch - and my Word 2007 doesn't work properly:
- I can't highlight text
- I can't insert drawing objects
- I can't get into the Header or footers of documents
- When I close a document Word Crashes and says it is looking for a
solution
but can't find one
- It won't open documents properly

I am a very busy ISO9001 Assessor and I had a lot of work I planned to do
which I was unable to do. I discovered this evening that by removing this
patch the problem goes away.

I then find that the patch has been downloaded automatically for me. Can you
please withdraw the patch until you have tested it properly.

Thank you.

Hi Nick,

First, this is a peer support group. To contact MS use the phone or email links on http://support.microsoft.com

The settings for installing updates automatically or not are controlled by you at http://updates.microsoft.com

The Office compatibility pack relates to the Converter set used on computers that have versions other than Office 2007 on it. Do
you have multiple versions of Office on your computer?

It's possible that you have an add-in in Word 2007 that is interfering/not compatible. You may want to try the steps here.
