KB951596 and KB 951808 won't install

Hi,

both security updates are downloaded but not successfully installed. It
works neither via the update icon in the systray nor when closing down
Windows nor via the Microsoft Update and Windows Update sites. Downloading
and running the files manually didn't help either; I got the error message
(on my German system) "Fehler bei der Erkennung. Dies kann auf eine
beschädigte Installationsdatenbank zurückzuführen sein" (in English roughly:
"Error during recognition. This may be caused by a corrupt installation data
base").

How can I get the two updates installed? My system: Windows XP Pro SP3,
Office 2007 Enterprise.

I have the same problem. Were you able to get this corrected? I even tried to
repair my copy of Office Pro 2007.

Phil,

the problem has not been resolved yet and I'm afraid MS Support has no more
ideas how to. Since patch day this Tuesday there are four Office updates
that don't install; KB951944 and KB954326 have joined the group.

Now I'm off for holidays for a fortnight; then I'll contact MS Support again.

I think I have all of the updates and only these two won't install. I am also
on Windows XP Pro and Office Pro 2007. I even tried it with SP2 and SP3.

I will let you know if they solve anything for me. Have a great holiday.

Phil,

I am happy to report that after installing the updates of last Tuesday
(October Patch Day) there are no uninstalled updates remaining. I do hope
the new updates solved your problem, too.
