KB951748 Terminal Services bug - USB printer mapping

W

WDS

This is a windows update issue not an office issue but there is no place to
report bugs.

If you have a printer connected via USB on Win XP, and connect to terminal
Server 2003 via RDP after the XP machine has installed update 951748 you will
have the following problem. (printer mapping must be ticked off on the RDP
software)

--the printer will not unload form the server after you disconnect. The
next time you connect you will still see the printer from the previous
connection (although it will no longer work)
-- when logging out, your session will hang on the log off screen.
--it may or may not map your printer properly.

uninstall KB951748 from the workstation and the problem goes away.
I have seen this problem on 6 different PC's, 3 different servers. Exact
same symptoms and solution.
it does not make a difference if the "patch" is installed on the server or
not.
