Keeling IM for internal clients only

Hi
I want to install and use Instant Messaging. however I only want it available to internal machines only, therefore I want to deny access to external users of messenger.
Is it possible to deny outbound messages with this system or do I need to use another application?

cheers

Hi simdave,
if you want to use the Instant Messaging programm, there is no way to deny
access from outbound.
If you want to use a chat program for inside your Network, please use the
Windows chat programm.
you find it in C:\WINNT\System32\winchat.exe

Hi Andreas
thanks for the prompt reply. i found a MS doc last night that suggests that by default IM is not available outside a local network unless you specify a proxy or specific firewall config to allow the traffic out. Is this your experience?

Also are you aware if it is possible to save the conversations that are taking place over IM or is that simply not possible?

Thanks
