Keep cell number constant when copy/paste

I use a cell to hold a constant (hourly rate) that gets applied to many
different cells in a formula (hours * rate = amount). But when I do a
copy/paste from one cell to another, excel automatically changes the cell
number (eg. C3) in reference to where I have pasted the formula. Is there a
way to make that cell number constant when I do a copy/paste? Or how would
one use a constant like this? Make sense?

Thanks!
Gil

Place the cursor in the cell reference in the formula. Hit cmd-T. The $ will
appear, making both column and row constant. Hitting cmd-T will cycle through
the other options of constant row, constant column or no constant.

Never mind! I found the name function. Name the cell and refer to it in a
formula. Walla!
