Keep Excel Sort on Table Import

D

DOUG

I need to import a table of data into MS Access from MS Excel and to RETAIN
the same order of rows. Please tell me this is possible - (and if so, how to
do this).

The purpose is to match the data to a reference table and export it back to
MS Excel in the same order as I started.

Thanks,

DOUG

You have to make it "data", which is probably easy, in Excel, to add a
column, filled with values from 1 to n, and to import that column along with
the other data, into Access. You can then refer, within Access, to that
column as standard DATA, with an ORDER BY clause if required to get the
ordering, visually.

Just wondering... what if you add an autonumber column to your table
and then do the import? Well, then you'd have to pre-define the
columns, but that's not a problem, is it?
