Keep getting extra page at end

I keep having this problem when using headers and footers. For example, my 2-page resume has a third page that contains only my header and footer. My cursor happily sits on the first line after the header on page 3, but if I attempt to delete back or forward, nothing happens. If I choose to show formatting, I see a ¶ at the top of the third page (outside the header) and the previous page, which ends with a table has the little squarish icon at the end.

This has happened to me in other contexts and has happened through previous iterations of Word so I'm sure the issue is with me and not a bug. How do I address it?

Hi Martinnel,

In Word, an ordinary paragraph must follow a table. You can overcome the problem by:
.. reducing the paragraph's leading space to 0,
.. reducing the paragraph's font size to 1pt, and/or
.. formating the paragraph's font as hidden.

Well, macropod, oddly enough, when I shut down yesterday I had a 3-page resume, but when I launched again this morning it is only two pages as I desired. But this happens to me fairly often so I'd like to make sure I'm clear on what you've said.

I see under Format>Font how to reduce the font size to 1 and format the font as hidden, but I'm not sure how to reduce the leading space to 0. Or maybe my default is 0. Format>Paragraph>Spacing has 0 pt Before and After. Is this how I reduce my leading space to 0?
