Keep info private

I have have plans which are shared via email with outside clinets. Since my
plans contain confidential information such as resource costs, I do not wish
my clients to be able to see this information when I email them the plans.
I can 'hide' or put the the cost information obscure columns such as "cost9"
and the like, but with some effort this information is quite accessible.
Pasting a picture of the plan in an email will not work, asthe client may
need to update the plan.

Is the a way to keep the information private, such as a password protection
mechanism or the like?

Thank you all.

Hi Jzis,
No, I am sorry. If your clients can open the Project
file they have access to everything in the file.

Hi,

1. If you can hide the information in a free field, you could write a little
macro with a formula that transforms the values into something that cannot
be interpreted, and another macro that does the reverse transformation. A
little creativity will provide a nice encrypting formula I'm sure.
You send the file with the encrypted values and dcypher it when it comes
back;
Or 2. You keep a copy of the file, erase all secret values, and copy/paste
them again when the file comes back.

As Julie and Jan have indicated, you can't keep the info private if you
send the Project file. So ... don't send Project file. Consider it
"source code" and your special and secret thing.

Instead, send them extracts of relevant information that the client
needs to know. Assemble a document with screen shots of relevant
information. Export reports, views, and Gantt charts to PDF format and
from that assemble a PDF "report" which gives not only data, but true
information/knowledge/opinion about the project and the direction you
are taking.

Don't think you have to send the Project file. You don't have to.
There is a school of thought that indeed it is the wrong thing to do
(even though many do it).

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
