keep losing recent file list in word 97

Hi All,

I am using word 97 and windows 98 se. Sometimes I lose the files in the
recent files that I open.under the file menu. What can I do to fix this
problem?
No I haven't applied the sr2 patch. For some reason I can't run that patch
without getting an error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

One common reason is that you have installed TweakUI and set it to clear MRU
caches.
