KEEP MULTIPLE .PST FILE

W

WWJ-PSTUSER

I GOT A NEW COMPUTER. I SAVED MY .PST FILE TO A NETWORK DRIVE. INSTALLED
OUTLOOK. WHEN I OPENED OUTLOOK, I HAD MY IN-BOX AND PERSONAL FOLDER AS THEY
WERE BEFORE ON MY OLD COMPUTER AND I ALSO HAD A COMPLETE NEW SET OF FOLDERS
(INBOX, CONTACTS, SENT, DELETED, ETC.

SO I CHANGE MY DEFAULT .PST TO THE ONE I SAVED ON THE NETWORK. THIS
APPEARED TO WORK. SHUT DOWN THE COMPUTER FOR THE NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY WHEN I
OPENED OUTLOOK MY ORGINAL .PST WAS OVERWRITTEN BY THE .PST THAT OUTLOOK
CREATED WHEN I INSTALL IT ON THE NEW COMPUTER.

ANY IDEA HOW THIS HAPPENED AND HOW I CAN CORRECT IT?

Hi,
dont shout in the knewsgroup! Choose another font size.
So your originally pst is on the network drive as well?

Maybe you search for your pst there and open it by using
FILE | OPEN | DATAFILE
If you have copied or moved the empty *.pst file to your network drive,
there have to be a warning message like "there is another *.pst file in that
folder, do you want to overwrite it?" and if you have choose Yes.... bad
chances to get your origin pst file back.

Sorry about the font, did not mean to shout.

In the Navigation Pane, I change my personal folder default location. At
that point I still had two .pst files. This morning when I do a search, I
was only able to location one .pst file, the one on the network. The
Modified date/time reflects the time that I changed the default location

Any thoughts
