Hello. PPT 2003 SP1, WinXP.
I am trying to help a colleague with a show. It is a combination of
slides with static graphics and slides with movies in wmv format. It
starts with a regular slide and we can use "Ctrl H" to make the
pointer disappear. The show is meant to be advanced with only the
space bar, and mouse right click has been set to go to previous slide
instead of pop up menu. The problem is that when we advance to a slide
that plays a wmv file, the pointer pops up on the screen, usually in a
most annoying place, and we can't get rid of it without moving it to
the edge of the screen.
Is it possible to keep the pointer from popping up when a movie plays?
At the moment, it appears that WMP is being used for the wmv files.
Would the MCI player not pop up the pointer? And is it possible to
force the MCI player to be used if so?
We've had a little time to look throught the FAQ, the MS KB, Google
Groups archives, both for PPT and WMP with out any success. I will go
through the multi-media faq again and compare settings on the computer
with the faq and see if it makes any differences.
It doesn't help that for the show we have 2 screens, each with its own
computer , as the images are different, and we haven't been given the
other computer yet. And I know it will be different from the one we
have been using so far.
One other question that has surfaced as I've typed this, is that at
the moment we are using a lap-top, with the external out set to mirror
the internal display. Any chance that if we use presenter view, the
pointer will not show up on the external screen when we advance to a
movie file if we make sure the mouse is sitting in the presenter's
view as opposed to the external screen? It won't be until late Monday
afternoon before we will get a chance to try this.
Any ideas, comments or suggestions gratefully appreciated.
Any co-commisseration will be duly drowned.
Thanks,
Villem Teder
