Keeping current mail after format C

I have to format my hard drive and instlal XP Pro and then
office 2000.
I aleady have archiving set up for all my folders, but how
can I copy just my current mail to copy it back into the
software after the format? Do I have to archive everything
that is current and then restore the archiving and then
archive the old mail again?
How can I keep my custom folders too that I have set up ?
