Keeping numbered lists w/out autonumber

Nama

I've been using the autonumber function for a list, and I'd like to
disable the autonumber but keep the numbers in place. Basically, I am
trying to find a way to be able to add something to a numbered list
without having the program immediately renumber the new entry (ie:
1. text
text
2. text
instead of:
1. text
2.
3. text

I've figured out that if I click return twice it gets rid of the
numbering system, but is there an easier way to 'unformat' the whole
doc but keep the numbers in place?

Thanks!

What you need is an unnumbered style to follow the numbered style. Word
provides series of styles for numbering (List Number, List Number 2, etc.)
and styles for the continuation paragraphs (List Continue, List Continue 2,
etc.).
