keeping one column stationary

I was hoping someone could tell me how to keep a column of
data stationary while scrolling other info underneath it.
I am probably not explaining this well. I have a long
sheet of data which I can't view all at once, I need to
scroll the data to the correct month and I need to see my
first column, column A, so I can enter in the new data
correctly. Thank you in advance for any help.

Select B1 and choose Windows > Freeze window (or similar)
If you select B2 and again choose Windows > Freeze window,
row 1 will also be stationary.
