keeping scroll bars there

Using Word 2008, each time I open a new document, I have to go to the view preference panel and check the box to show the scroll bars. Is there a way to set the default view so that scroll bars always appear when I open documents?

thanks

Um, this should happen automatically. Try this. Make sure *all* the open
documents are showing scroll bars, even if you have to set each one
individually. Quit and relaunch Word--does the new doc have the scroll bars?

If not, make sure the current document is showing scrollbars *before*
you create a new doc. You should only need to do this once or twice
before Word remembers. If it doesn't work itself out after a few tries,
post back.

Which scrollbar are you missing? Both, or just one?

You might also try Repairing Permissions.
