Keeping track of declined meetings

My boss seems to have the facility in his Calendar to decline meetings, but
for them to stay in his Calendar as "Declined: xxxxx" This is really useful,
ie to know that a meeting is going on at a certain time, and to see who's
going. If I decline it, it disappears, and if I put "tentative" I have to
write to the organizer explaing that it's not really tentative... and I'll
not be there.

And if the clash I have that is stopping me gong disappears, ie the other
meeting is cancelled, if the meeting I did decline is not in my calendar, I
won't realize that I can now go to it.....

I don't know of any version of Outlook that will do that. What's he using?

2k3. It might, of course, be the optional PA add-on that is providing this
facility... I'll ask her if she's doing this for him. But it is such a
useful feature I think MS should build it in. I decline lots of meetings as
there are only 7 days in the week, but some of them I need to keep track of.

I think you may need to adjust a setting - Tools | Options | Email Options |
Advanced Email Options | then see what you have for the "delete meeting
requests from Inbox when responding" setting.

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!

Judy - thanks for the note, but I don't understand how this can help? Are
you saying that by keeping the e-mail I can somehow hang on to the meeting in
Calendar.... sorry if I'm being thick - but I don't see how this helps.
Thanks

this means that when you decline, you'll still have the meeting invitation -
you could stuff it in a folder and if you later want to accept, it will be
there for you.

Not joking - that's the best Outlook can do! I have a love/hate
relationship with Outlook. Can you see why?
