key number for installation

the "worm" got my home computer and i had to reinstall a
bunch of stuff. when i went to use Office, the files
couldn't be found so i tried to reinstall but don't have
the key number (25 digits) -- can i do anything to get it
installed or am i toast?

Hi Keith,

If it is a retail version contact Microsoft at (800) 936-5700 or if
outside the US see this site: http://microsoft.com/worldwide

If the software came preinstalled on your PC (OEM version) then you'll
need to contact the manufacturer for a replacement key.

If the OEM will not provide you with a replacement key contact
Microsoft and explain the problem to them. It is my understanding they
will generate a new key however you could incur a nominal fee for this
service.
